New Nokia Device Hailed As ‘Marvel’ In Doorstop Technology

FINLAND – Following an early look by gadget enthusiasts, Nokia’s highly anticipated smartphone has been hailed as the “most innovate doorstop on the market.”

Early shots of the hardware was recently leaked onto the internet and has reportedly got fans of keeping doors open for extended periods of time ‘very excited’.

The new devices demonstrated a range of uses including holding up windows in addition to doors, and even being used to stabilise uneven table legs.

“Make no mistake this thing will absolutely be used to hold all my doors open,” raved one tech blogger who said Nokia had come a long way from the days when they made devices people used to make calls on.

Home based strategy

In a recent conference speech, Nokia chief executive Stephen Elop set out the company’s vision for making the latest generation of door stopping devices which included holding “the next billion American doors and windows for as long as required.”

But despite the positive showing, the company was criticised in some circles for a release schedule that will see them missing the crucial summer months when many people are expected to be in the market for something to help ventilation around the home.

“Nokia are missing a golden opportunity to hold open a ton of doors across America.  What are they playing at over there?!” blasted David Richards – just one homeowner without any automated form of air conditioning.

Mr Richards was concerned that a lack of new devices from the Finnish giant would leave the market open to strong competition from  unused bricks, blocks of woods or hardcover books.

An autumn release is seen to be  too late as many potential customers tend to keep doors closed and therefore would have no other need for a Nokia device.

Awful timing

Richards added: “I don’t think Nokia realise that people have options when it comes to holding open their doors.  This is a world were you can get a fully functional wedge made in China at a moments notice.”

Elop has moved to dismiss claims of irrelevancy however, reminding critics that a Nokia device could also be used as a book end, “or to hold down loose paper to prevent it from being accidentally blown away.”

He continued: “We absolutely know what we’re doing.  Nokia will continue to manufacture innovative devices that excel in holding doors open regardless of the weather.”
